Job summary

Rosendin Electric, Inc. is seeking an Estimator II to prepare bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects.

This mid‑level role supports small‑ to medium‑size projects under moderate guidance, assists senior estimators, and presents bid packages to leadership. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, 3+ years of estimating experience, and proficiency with Accubid; CAD or 3D software is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical.
  • Proficient in Accubid estimating; CAD or 3D software is preferred.
  • Strong arithmetic abilities and ability to interpret cost data and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and front-end documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and requirements.
  • Prepare estimates by taking off scope, entering data into the estimating system, and reviewing printouts.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit and review quotes for completeness.
  • Itemize and quantify all incidentals for bid packages, including sub-contract work and equipment.
  • Provide guidance on completion matrices for assigned bids.
  • Develop labor productivity and unit costs with senior estimators based on site data.
  • Compile scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing for leadership review.
  • Explain the estimate, scope, quotes, and transition plans after successful bid.
  • Prepare scope letters and maintain files of working documents.
  • Complete client-required documents in a timely manner.

Overview

Estimator II – Mid‑level professional responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. Provides overall support for small‑ to medium‑size projects under moderate guidance, assists senior estimators, and presents estimated bid packages to senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and requirements.
  • Prepare estimates by taking off scope, entering data into the computer estimating system, and reviewing printouts for accuracy.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review quotes for completeness.
  • Itemize and quantify all incidentals needed for bid packages, including sub‑contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies.
  • Provide guidance to personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids.
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs with senior estimators based on site conditions and historical data.
  • Compile scope of work, address technical requirements and pricing, and present to Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, or Chief Estimator.
  • After successful bid, meet with project management and senior estimator to explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes, and transition plans.
  • Prepare scope letters (inclusions, exclusions, clarifications) and maintain files of working documents.
  • Complete all client‑required documents in a timely manner.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction.
  • Proficient in Accubid estimating.
  • Proficient in CAD or 3D software (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
  • Strong arithmetic abilities and ability to interpret cost data and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front‑end documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities under time pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional interaction with all employee levels, vendors, clients, and others.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Experience with Accubid and other estimating platforms.
Travel

Up to 10%.

Working Conditions

Work at an office setting with occasional travel to job sites. General conditions include sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work is primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning; occasional exposure to outside weather and medium to loud noise levels on job sites. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
