Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical, a subsidiary of IES Holdings, Inc., seeks a Commercial Electrical Construction Estimator in Tigard, OR. This role reviews proposals, performs takeoffs, and coordinates the estimating effort across bids and projects.

The candidate should have estimating experience, understand cost data, and possess strong communication skills, plus a valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Experience with estimating in electrical construction or related field.
• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope and contents of estimate.
• Prepare discipline estimates by detailed takeoffs of scope of work.
• Maintain backup files with current supplier pricing and references.
• Incorporate historical data from PO's and productivity reports into unit and man-hour figures.
• Review specs and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope.
• Coordinate total estimating effort for bids/projects.

Job Summary

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Prepare discipline estimate by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
• Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned

Qualifications

• One estimating experience or equivalent combinations technical training and/or experience
• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data
• Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills
• Valid motor vehicle driver’s license
• Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check, and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.
