Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support our Electrical Construction Division on commercial and industrial projects in Central Virginia. The role partners with the sales team to secure profitable work and provides accurate, cost-effective estimates.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of electrical field experience or a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, plus 2+ years of estimating experience and proficiency with Accubid Anywhere, Excel, and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical field experience preferred for commercial/industrial construction.
• Minimum of 2 years of electrical project estimating experience.
• Proficiency with Trimble Accubid Anywhere or similar estimating software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, AI tools, or related tech skills.
• On-screen take-off experience and ability to interpret cost data.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates for commercial electrical projects.
• Conduct occasional field surveys to support scope development and estimating.
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for accurate pricing.

ColonialWebb is seeking an electrical estimator for our electrical division! The Electrical Estimator supports the Electrical Construction Division by preparing accurate, cost-effective estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects throughout Central Virginia. Working with the Electrical Construction sales team, this role represents the company to new and existing customers and helps secure profitable, consistent work for the growing division.

A Day In The Life

• Follow all company safety rules, procedures, regulations, and practices.
• Prepare cost estimates for commercial electrical projects.
• Conduct occasional field surveys to support project scope development and estimating.
• Communicate and collaborate with estimators, project managers, and other stakeholders to support preconstruction goals.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate, competitive pricing.
• Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key subcontractors and vendors.
• Support Business Development with conceptual design-build budget estimates.
• Review plans and specifications to define the project scope.
• Perform material takeoffs and prepare accurate quantity surveys.
• Include labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and direct costs in estimates.
• Adjust labor production factors based on project difficulty per Chief Estimator Direction
• Present final pricing during review meetings and complete internal setup requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

You Should Have

• Experience estimating commercial electrical projects ranging from $5 to $10 million, with occasional change orders or smaller projects in support of operations and budgeting.
• Electrical field experience (8+ years preferred) in commercial and industrial construction projects or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant electrical project estimating experience.
• Proficiency with Trimble Accubid Anywhere or similar estimating software.
• Strong technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, AI tools, or similar applications.
• On screen take off experience
• Ability to interpret and analyze computerized cost data.
• Extensive knowledge of the commercial and Industrial electrical industry.
• Thorough understanding of electrical equipment, methods, drawings, and specifications.
• Understanding of building materials, engineering standards, and applicable codes.
• Professional demeanor with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills to develop innovative solutions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
