Job summary

US LBM Holdings, LLC, a leading distributor of specialty building materials, seeks an Estimator to calculate material quantities for home construction in accordance with company policies. The role includes blueprint reading, coordinating with sales, and ensuring estimates align with project budgets.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's Degree in engineering or a related field and has 1–3 years of construction/materials experience. Strong math, communication, and computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.
• 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.
• Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.

Responsibilities

• Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code.
• Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders and materials lists.
• Assist in trim take-offs as requested.
• Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
• Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
• Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
• Work on sales/ hardware counter as assigned.
• Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.
