Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Florida is seeking an Estimator within the Florida Buildings Group to own small-to-large estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate tender processes.

You will support bid strategy, pricing, and documentation to ensure successful project pursuits. Ideal candidates have construction estimating experience, knowledge of bid methods, and strong office and estimating software skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
• 2 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating or related field experience is preferred.
• Led pursuits valued up to $10 million in various delivery methods.
• General construction knowledge of specs, drawings, materials, and methods.
• Familiar with bid methods: hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build, target prices, cost reimbursable.
• Introductory knowledge of bid preparation, quantity takeoff, procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
• Ability to establish relationships with stakeholders including subtrade partners and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Takes ownership of entire small estimates or components of large estimates and reviews all bid documents.
• Performs quantity takeoffs of labor, equipment, and materials for self-perform and trades.
• Supports lead estimator with material quantities, tender forms, RFIs, and scope requirements.
• Applies material unit prices or allowances and base labor productivities to the estimate.
• Assists with bid document control and archives for transfer to project team.
• Supports lead bid runner and submitting tenders on bid-day.
• Documents estimate information and archives for transfer to project team after award.
• Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders, subtrade partners, and suppliers.
• Solicits competitive pricing from subtrades and suppliers for pursuit support.
