Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and interior construction.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, and bid documents to determine scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subs.
• Solicit and level pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and VE opportunities.
• Prepare bid proposals with scope, exclusions, and pricing.
• Coordinate with PMs, field teams, suppliers, and clients.
• Maintain pricing databases, bid logs, and project docs.
• Provide breakdowns and assumptions during turnover.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and process improvements.
• Assist with budgets, negotiated bids, and change-order pricing.
• Track multiple bids and ensure timely submissions.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator with a strong background in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and commercial interior construction. This role will oversee the estimating process from initial bid invitation through project handoff, ensuring accurate, competitive, and well-documented proposals.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, understands commercial interior construction, and can confidently manage multiple bids, deadlines, takeoffs, pricing, and scope reviews in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior construction projects.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, review, compare, and level pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare complete bid proposals, including scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, and pricing documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients throughout the estimating process.
• Maintain historical pricing, estimating databases, bid logs, and project documentation.
• Provide detailed estimate breakdowns, assumptions, and scope information during project turnover.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and contribute to improving estimating processes and accuracy.
• Assist with conceptual budgets, negotiated bids, change-order pricing, and other estimating requirements.
• Track multiple bids and ensure accurate, timely submissions.

• 3+ years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior trades.
• Required experience in commercial interior construction estimating.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and interior building systems.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Proven experience with detailed quantity takeoffs and complete bid preparation.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating and takeoff software.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
