Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to produce accurate quantity take-offs, manage material pricing, and coordinate with vendors for project estimates. You will apply WBS, prepare budgets, and support conceptual estimating while maintaining strict deadlines.

The role requires a High School diploma (or equivalent) and about 5 years of related experience, with travel up to 10% of the time. Massachusetts and background checks are noted in policy materials.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications and identify missing elements during design development.
• Strong multi-tasking, deadlines, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate quantity and material take-offs by reviewing plans, specs, and instructions for estimates.
• Enter quantity take-offs and material unit prices for project estimates.
• Apply work breakdown structure (WBS) to estimates.
• Coordinate material pricing from vendors and others and develop pricing for basic elements.
• Contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Contribute to preparation of key estimating deliverables.
• Support conceptual estimating efforts and develop basic models for senior review.
• Develop budgets and purchasing plans with limited oversight.
• Coordinate document flow during estimate prep and provide admin logging of estimates.
• Perform additional duties as required.
