Job summary

James McHugh Construction Co. is seeking an Estimator to join our Estimating team in Chicago. You will coordinate estimating activity for a specific trade or group of trades, manage bids, and evaluate subcontractor bids to recommend the lowest responsible bidder.

You will report to the Senior Preconstruction Manager and work with the estimating team. The role emphasizes developing bid scope, maintaining subcontractor relationships, and identifying value engineering opportunities to support

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
• Construction management or technical training preferred.
• 3–5 years experience in construction estimating and related functions.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office, On Center OST, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Exercise discretion to obtain the best bids for assigned scope of work.
• Prepare accurate, organized scope directives with appropriate quantities for subcontractor use in bid proposals.
• Coordinate scope directives with Senior Estimators and other estimators.

Education
