Job summary

Sunbelt Modular Inc. is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost projections for modular building projects. The role links design, engineering, procurement, and production to translate drawings into detailed estimates.

The candidate will develop budgets, bid proposals, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality, schedule, and performance. Strong knowledge of drawings and building systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of estimating experience in commercial modular construction/manufacturing.
• Experience in modular, prefabricated, or offsite construction.
• Familiarity with design-build project delivery methods.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on architectural drawings, specifications, and conceptual designs; follow up on all outstanding estimates and projects.
• Develop preliminary budgets, detailed estimates, and final bid proposals for projects; identify cost savings opportunities without compromising quality, schedule or performance; recommend alternative materials, methods or configurations.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, transportation, and other costs; ensure design optimization for manufacturability and efficiency.
• Evaluate project risks and incorporate contingencies where appropriate.
• Researches all necessary special pricing, code compliance, and structural requirements of projects; provide submittals as required.
• Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; price change orders and red-line changes.

Position Objective: The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for modular building projects across a variety of commercial sectors. This role plays a critical part in the project lifecycle by bridging design, engineering, procurement, and production by translating conceptual and technical information into detailed cost projections.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates based on architectural drawings, specifications, and conceptual designs; follow up on all outstanding estimates and projects
• Develop preliminary budgets, detailed estimates, and final bid proposals for projects; identify cost savings opportunities without compromising quality, schedule or performance; recommend alternative materials, methods or configurations
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, transportation, and other costs; ensure design optimization for manufacturability and efficiency
• Evaluate project risks and incorporate contingencies where appropriate
• Researches all necessary special pricing, code compliance, and structural requirements of projects; provide submittals as required

• Provides accurate sales release packages for Engineering
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Able to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment)
• An estimator role is mostly light-duty physically, involving extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer work. It may include occasional site visits that require walking, climbing stairs, or navigating job sites, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Overall, the physical demands are minimal, with a focus on mobility, basic stamina, and visual attention to detail rather than strength.
