Role Description

The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, NC. This position is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and subcontractors. The Estimator will solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and trade partners, analyze project risks and value engineering options, and assist in developing competitive proposals. Day-to-day tasks include working closely with project managers and other team members to clarify scope, maintain estimating databases and cost histories, and support budgeting and preconstruction planning. The role also involves communicating clearly with internal stakeholders and occasionally with clients to ensure alignment on project scope and pricing.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards, preferably within general contracting.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, field teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Relevant experience in construction estimating or related preconstruction roles; internship or field experience is beneficial.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
