Job summary

Foundation Personnel, a specialist recruitment partner to the geotechnical and foundations sector, is working with a leading foundation contractor to appoint a talented Estimator in Tampa, FL. The Estimator prepares comprehensive cost estimates for lump sum and time-and-material contracts and supports competitive bids.

You will build client relationships, coordinate with subcontractors, conduct site visits, take-off quantities, and maintain cost databases to deliver accurate pricing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• At least 2-3 years’ experience in deep foundations or heavy civil works.
• Preferred related Estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate project cost estimates to support bids.
• Build relationships with clients to support business development.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and clarify scope.
• Attend pre-bid conferences and site visits to assess requirements and cost factors.
• Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work; evaluate quotations and pricing.
• Prepare bid status reports; ensure estimates comply with specs and contract requirements.
• Present cost estimates for proposals, including general and special conditions.
• Develop scope specifications, enter quantities into estimating software, and maintain cost codes.

Foundation Personnel, a specialist recruitment partner to the geotechnical and foundations sector, is working with one of North America’s leading foundation specialist contractors to appoint a talented Estimator.

Role Description

The Estimator plays a critical role in preparing comprehensive and accurate estimates across various contract types, including lump sum and time-and-material agreements.

Key responsibilities include

• Prepare detailed and accurate project cost estimates to support competitive and commercially viable bids.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to support business development and long-term partnerships.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarify scope requirements, and gather relevant project information.
• Attend pre-bid and proposal conferences, as well as site visits, to assess project requirements and identify potential cost considerations.
• Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work, evaluate quotations, and compare pricing to determine the most competitive and best-value solutions.
• Prepare and maintain bid status reports, ensuring all estimates comply with project specifications, contract requirements, Statements of Work, and bid invitations.
• Present cost estimates in support of customer proposals, accounting for general conditions, special conditions, and project-specific requirements.
• Develop scope specifications and project requirements, assist with schedule preparation, conduct quantity take-offs, prepare cost summary sheets, and enter quantities into estimating software.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost codes and historical cost databases to support consistent and reliable estimating.
• Apply relevant company records, historical project costs, and industry benchmarking data to develop accurate and competitive pricing estimates.
