Job summary

Dynalectric Company in Sterling, VA is seeking an experienced electrical estimator to support preconstruction and bid activities on multiple projects. You will takeoffs, assemble quantities, and prepare pricing using Accubid, NEC knowledge, and vendor communications.

This onsite, full-time role requires the ability to manage deadlines, interpret drawings and specifications, and coordinate with subs to ensure competitive bids and accurate cost estimates for lighting, power, and systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Takeoffs and quantities for electrical systems and enter into estimating program.
• Develop bid day vendor/subcontractor comparisons and sheets.
• Communicate with subcontractors/vendors to obtain pricing.
• Review schedule and constructability issues for bids.
• Identify discrepancies and prepare RFIs for timely responses.
• Utilize Accubid or similar estimating software for assemblies.

About Us

We are a full-scale electrical contracting company, providing preconstruction services through final- and post-project completion. For both new construction and renovation projects, we offer design-build/design-assist, value engineering, and CAD services, working with biotech, healthcare, commercial, transportation, and technology companies, as well as many government agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Expert knowledge/understanding of all electrical work and materialsrequired.

• Understanding of the NEC National Electric Code

• Receive assignments from Pre-Construction Manager/Chief Estimator and/or Senior Estimators to perform daily duties

• Help train andassistless experienced estimating staff when and if necessary

• Capable of accurately taking off multiple electrical systems and entering items into estimating program (Accubid). Systems to include but not to the following: (lighting, lighting control, dimming, devices, fire alarm, nurse call, A/V, modular wiring, grounding, ,motor and equipment connections, generators, power distribution equipment, feeders, UPS, etc.

• Must be familiar with industry manufacturers/vendors/Reps and be able to communicate sufficient information (specifications, quantities, sketches) to the vendor to ensure the receipt ofaccurateand competitive pricing. Maintainsthe communicationthroughout the bid preparation process andforwardsany addendums to the vendor.

• Managing multiple projects and deadlines with ability to prioritize and complete tasks

• Review,interpretand accurately estimate the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.

• Must understand fullthe useof drawing symbols as they relate to various systems.i.e.fire alarm, lighting, Lighting control systems, switches, receptacles, motors, power distribution equipment etc.

• Must be able to develop bid day vendor/subcontractor Bid Comparison Sheets for all major equipment/subcontract packages

• Must be able to recognize/identify potential discrepancies and errors in documents and develop RFI questions fortimelyresponse. Any/all information of this type should be reviewed with the Chief Estimator/Supervisor for proper response and resolution.

• Intermediateuse capabilitiesofAccubidsoftware or similar estimating system and the ability to input information is required. Must be able to move easily within the system and be experienced in the building of assemblies. Solicit and collectsubcontractorand vendor bids or quotations.

• Communicate with subcontractors/vendors

• Review schedule and constructability issues

• Ensure flow of project information ismaintainedand documented

Compsenation Range:

$50,000 to $90,000 based on experience
