Job summary

Appleton Finn, a leading employee-owned general contractor, seeks an Estimator to join its preconstruction team in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates and bid packages, review drawings, and help shape pricing for technically complex projects.

This role offers 100% company-funded ESOP, five weeks of PTO, a 401(k) with company match, relocation assistance if needed, and an annual discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating or preconstruction for commercial GC.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication, organization and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates and bid packages.
• Review drawings, specifications and supporting project documentation.
• Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Support projects throughout conceptual estimating, design development and final pricing.

Requirements

• Previous estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and building systems.
• Experience completing quantity take-offs and developing detailed cost estimates.
• Strong communication, organization and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software.
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
