Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking an Estimator in Phoenix to prepare estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating. You will read contracts, perform quantity take-offs and coordinate with subs to ensure pricing accuracy.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in civil engineering or construction management with at least 2 years of estimating on commercial/industrial projects, ideally with $20M+ project experience, and open to relocation within the Phoenix area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 years of estimating experience on commercial/industrial construction projects.
• Experience in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in general conditions, bid analysis, and related areas.
• Assists with bid proposals and outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Supports staff on special estimating projects and related duties.

Summary

An Estimator prepares estimates for various projects, shares responsibility for cost accuracy with project team and assists other estimators and managers in all types of estimating tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 year experience in estimating commercial and/or industrial construction projects, showing competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Relevant experience is going to be highly preferred
• Project size will be considered; ideally $20M or greater
• Local or open to relocation to either area
