Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects, coordinate with project teams, and support other estimators and managers in estimating tasks.

The position requires reading contract documents, performing quantity takeoffs, pricing, and soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Local candidates or relocation to Arizona preferred; on-site work with collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or related field.
• At least 2 years of estimating experience for commercial/industrial construction (hard-bid, design-build, conceptual).
• Local candidate or willing to relocate to the Phoenix area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Read and understand contract documents (plans, specs, addenda).
• Perform quantity take-offs, organize and price information.

Summary

An Estimator prepares estimates for various projects, shares responsibility for cost accuracy with project team and assists other estimators and managers in all types of estimating tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 year experience in estimating commercial and/or industrial construction projects, showing competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Relevant experience is going to be highly preferred
• Project size will be considered; ideally $20M or greater
• Local or open to relocation to either area
