Job summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Cost Estimator in Pasadena to deliver comprehensive and accurate project cost estimates from concept through final pricing. You will work with cross-functional teams to analyze market conditions, evaluate risks, and present data-driven recommendations to project leaders.

Responsibilities include preparing bid packages, reviewing drawings and specs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 4-6 years of estimating, cost analysis, project controls, or related experience.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares detailed and accurate project cost estimates for moderately complex projects.
  • Extracts production data for planning and scope alignment across groups.
  • Reviews drawings, specs, and contracts to identify scope, risks and opportunities for savings.
  • Coordinates with preconstruction, project managers, engineers, and procurement for bid packages.
  • Analyzes market trends, vendor pricing, and historical data for estimates and risk.
  • Contributes to value engineering by assessing cost impacts and alternatives.

Job Summary:

Delivers comprehensive and accurate cost estimates that inform project planning, bidding, and execution, supporting organizational profitability and competitiveness. Applies in-depth analytical skills to evaluate project documents, market conditions, and historical data, ensuring estimates reflect current trends and risks. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and value engineering options that optimize project outcomes. Influences decision-making by presenting clear, data-driven recommendations to project leaders and stakeholders. Enhances estimating processes by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepares detailed and accurate project cost estimates for moderately complex projects, incorporating material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs from concept through final pricing.
  • Extracts production data for planning , scope alignment, and integration of family of companies, i.e. SPW, Prefab, DBC, etc. to support project deliverables.
  • Reviews project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Coordinates with Precon Coordinators, project managers, engineers, and procurement teams assemble comprehensive bid packages, and provide clear instructions and clarifications to bidders.
  • Analyzes market trends, vendor pricing, and historical data to inform estimate development and risk assessment.
  • Contributes to value engineering efforts by analyzing cost impacts and proposing alternative materials, methods, or solutions to enhance project value.
  • Supports estimate reviews and documentation by organizing assumptions, qualifications, and clarifications to promote transparency and alignment with project objectives.
Education Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, a related field, or equivalent experience required.

Work Experience:

4-6 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, project controls, or a related field required.

Certifications and Licenses:

None required.

Anticipated starting pay range:
