Job summary

CCI Group of Companies in Louisiana is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects involving steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and structural fabrication. You will review drawings and specs, determine material and labor requirements, and develop detailed quotations to support profitable project execution.

The role requires coordinating with Operations, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure estimates reflect capabilities and market

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in fabrication, machining, welding, or structural steel manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cost databases.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects involving steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and structural fabrication. This role is responsible for reviewing customer drawings and specifications, determining material and labor requirements, coordinating with operations personnel, and developing detailed quotations that support profitable project execution.

The Fabrication Estimator plays a key role in securing new business while ensuring estimates align with our manufacturing capabilities and quality standards within an ISO 9001 and API Q1 certified facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.


• Prepare detailed cost estimates for fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and structural projects.


• Calculate material requirements for carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals.


• Determine labor hours, outside processing, tooling, freight, and subcontractor costs.


• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.


• Develop accurate proposals and pricing for customer quotations.


• Coordinate with Operations, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure estimates reflect current capabilities and market conditions.


• Maintain estimating databases, costing models, and historical pricing information.


• Identify project risks, schedule requirements, and potential cost impacts.


• Participate in project handoff meetings upon award of contracts.


• Assist with contract reviews and customer clarification requests.


• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating accuracy and profitability.


• Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and applicable ISO 9001 and API Q1 requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in fabrication, machining, welding, or structural steel manufacturing.


• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.


• Strong understanding of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and structural fabrication processes.


• Knowledge of material costs, welding processes, machining operations, and fabrication labor estimating.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office


• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


• Ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with structural steel projects.


• Familiarity with API, ASME, AWS, or other industry standards.


• Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or API Q1 quality management systems.
