D.R. Horton, the nation’s leading homebuilder, is seeking an Estimator to analyze blueprints, specifications and proposals to prepare time, cost, material and labor estimates for residential projects.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree, 2–4 years of residential construction estimating experience, a valid driver's license, and proficiency with MS Office and Blue Beam. The position offers overtime opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

• Proficiency with MS Office and email is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs to prepare detailed estimates from drawings and specifications.
• Review ITB for scope qualification and cost.
• Interpret architectural drawings to determine project requirements.
• Approve or process over-budget purchase orders.
• Assist with taking-offs, item costs and contract pricing.
• Assist in cost negotiations with suppliers/vendors.
• Field calls from potential vendors and field staff.
• Maintain professional and ethical conduct to serve customers and increase company profitability.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Estimator. The right candidate will Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform quantity take-offs to prepare detailed estimates in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Review Invitation to Bid (ITB) for a qualification of scope
• Interpret architectural drawings and specifications to determine project requirements
• Approve/process all over-budget purchase orders
• Assist with maintaining take-offs, item cost, and contract pricing
• Assist in cost negotiations
• Field phone calls from potential new vendors as well as field staff
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Ability to work overtime

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred
• Two to four years of related experience and/or training in the residential construction industry
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
• Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of estimating software such as Blue Beam
• The ability to meet multiple deadlines and attention to detail

Compensation

• Annual Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000, depending on qualifications and experience
