The role involves reviewing plans, coordinating with engineers and contractors, and delivering clear, well-supported estimates for bids and budgets.

Ideal candidates will have proven estimating experience, strong math skills, and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry (must).
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to analyze data effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy in estimating cost.
  • Persuasive communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and tools for estimating costs.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractors' costs.
  • Analyze blueprints, plans, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs related to bids as the project develops.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Present prepared estimates for use by management in planning and organizing project budgets.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and use software to calculate estimates and evaluate a project’s financial feasibility.
