Job summary

Rogers Group, Inc. seeks an Estimator for Middle Tennessee SMA operations in Gallatin, TN. You will attend pre-bid meetings, review plans and specifications, and prepare bids.

Qualifications

• 2+ years estimating and heavy civil/asphalt construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the local contractors and businesses.
• Experience with TDOT, Municipality, and large industrial/commercial projects.
• Proficient use of software tools (Microsoft Suite, HCSS Heavy Bid/Heavy Job, AGTEK, Blue Beam, Bid Tabs).
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Time management and delegation skills to meet tight bid schedules.

Responsibilities

• Active participation in company safety program, values, policies, and strategic plan.
• Prepares bid packages, estimates, analysis of subcontractor bids for commercial, municipal, and TDOT work.
• Reviews plans, specifications, contract documents, and attends pre-bid meetings for accurate bid preparation.
• Communicates with Owners, Engineers, Architects, Customers, and internal teammates to develop bid packages and resolve issues.
• Analyzes quotes, historical cost, and pricing information for bids and subcontracts.
• Leads the estimate handoff process from bid to construction management.
• Follows up to ensure completion and close-out of projects.
• Assists in compiling annual reports and budgets.
• Performs additional tasks to meet deadlines as assigned.

Rogers Group is currently seeking an Estimator for our Middle Tennessee SMA operations in Gallatin, TN. As an Estimator, you will attend pre-bid/pre-construction meetings, review proposal documents, plans, and specifications to understand the scope of work in preparation for preparing bids. You will be responsible for performing take-offs, analysis of subcontractor & vendor quotes, estimates, and submitting quotes for all projects across our Central Tennessee Operations. You will work with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, DOT officials, and trade associations to provide information and cost data regarding project feasibility. You will participate in job set-up/conforming budgets, submittals, change orders, and progress estimate/billing process. You will assist our construction project management team to resolve site problems and help determine schedule and cost impacts. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence.

Job Responsibilities

• Communicate with Owners, Engineers, Architects, Customers, and internal team members to develop bid packages and resolve issues.

• Leads the estimate handoff process from bid to the construction management team.
• Follow-up to ensure completion and close-out of projects.
• Assist in compiling annual reports and budgets.
• Perform additional tasks and assignments as necessary to meet deadlines or at management’s discretion.

• Ability to utilize software tools at a proficient skill level (Microsoft Suite, HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, AGTEK, Blue Beam, and Bid Tabs).
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Time management and delegation skills are a must to meet tight bid schedules.
