The ideal candidate will independently manage estimates, craft detailed bids, and drive profitable growth in a family-oriented environment. Ideal candidates will have 6–8+ years of commercial drywall estimating, strong knowledge of takeoff

Location: Maryland
Compensation: $125,000–$150,000+, Depending on Experience

Solid Rock Recruiting is partnering with an established commercial drywall and metal framing contractor in the Frederick, Maryland market to identify an experienced Senior Estimator.

Our client is a well-established, family-oriented commercial subcontractor with a strong reputation, experienced ownership, and a vision for continued growth.

This is an opportunity for a proven estimator who wants to make a meaningful impact without the corporate bureaucracy or micromanagement found in larger organizations.

The company is seeking a self-motivated professional who can independently manage estimating responsibilities, produce accurate and competitive bids, and help drive profitable growth.

This is a hands-on estimating position, not a supervisory role.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal stud framing, and related scopes.

• Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and comprehensive pricing analysis.

• Manage multiple bidding opportunities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

• Evaluate labor, material costs, subcontractor pricing, and project profitability.

• Collaborate directly with ownership and operations on bid strategy.

• Identify and pursue profitable commercial construction opportunities.

• Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors and industry partners.

• Support business development efforts when appropriate.

• Help maintain a consistent backlog of profitable projects.

Project Experience

Our client specializes in commercial construction, including:

• Multifamily apartments and condominium buildings

• College and university facilities

• Hospitals and healthcare facilities

• Commercial office buildings

• Tenant improvements and renovations

• Commercial drywall and metal framing projects

Typical project values range from $100,000 to $3 million, with experience on projects reaching approximately $9 million.

The company operates as an open-shop contractor, primarily serving the private commercial construction market.

Qualifications

• Ideally 6–8+ years of commercial drywall and metal framing estimating experience.

• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and labor productivity.

• Experience estimating multimillion-dollar commercial projects.

• Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff or comparable estimating software.

• Ability to independently prepare accurate bids with minimal oversight.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

• Understanding of project profitability and competitive bidding.

• Established relationships with general contractors in the Maryland, DC, or Northern Virginia markets are a plus.

• Business development experience is highly desirable but not required.
