Job summary

The Carter Lumber Company is seeking an Estimator to perform material take-offs for residential and light commercial projects. You will review blueprints, determine required materials and bid accordingly, while collaborating with outside sales staff.

The role requires practical knowledge of home, pole building, garage, barn and deck components, plus proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office. Growth opportunities exist within the company.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in residential and light commercial construction or 2 years in estimating.
• Understanding of home, pole building, garage, barn and deck components.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Building material sales experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of Professional Estimating Software.

Responsibilities

• Performs material take-offs for residential and commercial designs from a variety of blueprints in a timely manner.
• Reviews construction documents and understands material to bid.
• Reviews and fixes potential inaccuracies in material lists.
• Works directly with the outside sales representatives regarding all aspects of blueprints.
• Follows up with the status of take-offs and assists outside sales representatives in the selling of projects.

A Carter Lumber Estimator performs material take-offs on residential and light commercial buildings. Requires accurate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the building construction industry. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company and customer service are necessary to this position

Requirements to be Considered for the Position:
