Job summary

Johnson-Davis Inc. is seeking an Estimator to work out of our Lantana, FL office. The Estimator will estimate costs of materials, labor, sub trades and equipment for underground utility construction projects.

The role requires experience bidding public works, DOT/municipal projects, and familiarity with HCSS/HeavyBid or similar estimating software. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required for site visits and pre-bid meetings in Florida.

Qualifications

• Experience bidding public works projects.
• DOT or municipal project experience.
• Experience as both prime and sub contractor.
• Proficient in HCSS/HeavyBid or equivalent estimating software.
• Able to read plans and interpret contracts.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience in estimating water, sewer, and storm drainage.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bid selection, setup, takeoffs, material and subcontractor price requests, and jobsite visits.
• Develop detailed cost estimates from initial project concept through construction.
• Identify potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions.
• Review bid packages and drawings.
• Prepare and review material take-offs through bid preparation.
• Pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
• Other duties as assigned.
