Job summary

Eleven Western Builders, Inc. seeks a Project Estimator to own the bid lifecycle from invitation to handover. You will review plans, set up trades, invite subcontractors, and budget general conditions to deliver accurate bids with a team-focused approach.

In this role, you will work with project managers and leadership to win projects, manage multiple bids, and uphold schedule and budget integrity. CA drivers license required. Competitive wages and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project estimating in construction.
• Ability to read and interpret plans/specs.
• Knowledge of general contracting and subcontracting processes.
• Ability to learn estimating software and bid multiple projects.
• Proficiency with MS Office and PDF editing tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Join us and be a part of our collaborative company culture, providing innovative, quality-built construction projects as a leading retail general contractor throughout California and the western United States. We are looking for a Project Estimator who will facilitate and manage construction project bids from start to finish with precision and thoroughness, ensuring jobs are completed on schedule and within budget, with a strong team attitude to ensure a successful project outcome.

Being a self-driven and proactive individual, you can take full ownership of the bid process from invitation to project handover, work autonomously with accountability, solve problems and collaborate with all team members, and manage multiple bids effectively.

Essential Duties

In the first 30 days and ongoing:

• Learn Eleven Western Builders' services, processes, procedures, and business lines.
• Learn Eleven Western Builders’ estimating process; reviewing plans, setting up project trades, inviting subcontractors, writing pre-bid RFIs, budgeting general conditions, and reviewing bids for accuracy.
• Learn how to use estimating software.
• Learn project management software such as Timberline Sage and ProCore.
• Build positive working relationships with the Estimating Team, Subcontractors, Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Leadership.

By the 90-day mark and ongoing:

• Fully understand the project bidding process and bid projects independently, asking questions as needed.
• Have a foundational understanding of producing accurate general conditions and bid qualifications.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to hand off a complete bid package at award.
• Build a positive working relationship with Clients and Architectural teams.

Within the 6th to 9th month mark and ongoing:

• Have a full understanding of the estimating process: setting up project trades, inviting subcontractors, attending pre-bid meetings, discussing project scopes per trade, ensuring accurate coverage, creating general conditions, and bid qualifications.
• Proactively communicate with clients for bid results and future opportunities, attend weekly management meetings, and provide support for the project management team.
• Problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.

By the 12th month mark and ongoing:

• Be a fully integrated member of the team, consistently and proactively bidding on multiple projects from start to finish independently.
• Exhibit a positive attitude and drive when working on all projects, simple or complex, working to deliver the best outcome.

Education, Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of project estimating experience in the construction industry
• Must be able to read and understand project plans and specifications
• Knowledge of general contracting and sub-contracting process, how to construct a building, terms, methods, and scheduling
• Ability to learn how to utilize estimating software effectively
• Ability to bid 2-3 projects in parallel, ranging up to 6M, as well as bid larger projects, ranging up to 20M
• Proficient with computer skills, working with various office equipment, computers, and various programs, including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, and edit/markup Adobe PDFs
• Possession of a valid CA Driver’s License, good driving history, and dependable transportation required
• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary Range

$75-$185k Salary
