Job summary

YKK AP America Inc. is seeking an estimator to analyze blueprints and specifications to prepare estimates for products, projects, or services.

The role involves reviewing plans, preparing material take-offs and quotes, and working with clients and vendors to resolve cost issues. The candidate should have an Associate's degree or equivalent in construction or estimating and 1–3 years of related experience in commercial glazing, construction, or architectural aluminum sectors.

  • 1-3 years of related experience in commercial glazing, commercial construction, residential construction, building facade or architectural aluminum industry.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews architectural plans and other data to determine material and labor requirements to produce itemized lists. May require consultation with an applications engineer.
  • Prepares documents including material take-offs, estimates, quotes, quote logs, and the Scope of Work; reviews these documents with the Supervisor(s) when needed.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
  • Computes cost factors and trends. Prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, and process improvement; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness. Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies; provide improvement recommendation.

Physical Demands

An individual is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. An individual is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Travel Requirements

The travel required for this position is less than 10%.

Individuals are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at designated times and in specified environments in accordance with established safety program requirements. At YKK AP America Inc., base pay is only part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $61,053 - $69,193 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
