Job summary

Nucor Buildings Group in El Paso, IL is seeking an Estimator to develop safe, accurate, and cost-effective quotes for low-rise steel building projects. You will work with sales, plant, and other departments to create competitive proposals, use pricing tables, and consider material costs and erection concerns.

You will also participate in customer meetings at proposal or closing stages, offering value-engineering input and aiming for the least-cost solution while meeting project conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate degree in construction.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Experience in metal building industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform all quote functions for estimating and proposals for low-rise steel buildings.
• Create competitive, accurate and thorough estimates for metal building systems.
• Qualify the proposal with all information about the project.
• Assist sales by offering economical solutions to provide least-cost proposals.
• Assist in customer meetings at proposal/closing stage with value-engineering input.
• Use computer tools, pricing tables, and knowledge of products to address costs.
• Maintain sensitivity to material costs, erection concerns, and fabrication procedures.
• Follow schedules defined by Estimating Supervisor, sales team, and builders.
• Help develop tools and standards to increase productivity and accuracy.
• Demonstrate safety as a core value in all tasks.

Base Rate for this position is $21.64 - $47.23 / hour. This position is eligible for annual bonuses. Annual Return on Assests Bonus Percentage (ROA) (5 year average) = 20.7% of eligible earnings All Nucor teammates qualify for profit sharing. Annual Profit Sharing Bonus Percentage (5 year average) = 20.4% of eligible earningsAmerican Buildings is seeking a talented individual that can assist the company in sales and profit by developing safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building system quotes. Someone that is able to work with all departments, plant, and outside sales as an integral part of the NBS team.

Basic Job Functions

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for performing all quote functions required for estimating and creation of proposals for low-rise steel building projects. This will include: Creating competitive, accurate and thorough estimates for metal building systems in accordance with company processes, procedures, and practices. Qualifying the proposal with all assumed and supplementary provided information about the project. Assisting the sales efforts by recognizing and implementing economical solutions and alternatives to provide the least-cost proposal while meeting known project conditions. Assisting in customer meetings, primarily at the proposal or closing stage of a project, to offer value-engineering suggestions. Utilizing computer tools, pricing tables, and an overall knowledge of the products and their applications in order to address all relevant costs associated with a given project. Maintaining sensitivity to material costs, erection concerns, and fabrication procedures, relating to the in-place cost of the total structure. Following strict schedules as defined by the Estimating Supervisor, the sales team, and our builders. Assisting, proactively and as assigned, in the development of additional tools, standards, etc., which will help to increase individual and overall department productivity and accuracy. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferences

Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree in construction discipline Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings. Experience in metal building industry
