Job summary

Icon Mechanical is seeking an Estimator to join our CSG team at our Chesterfield, MO headquarters. The ideal candidate will range from entry-level to experienced (5+ years) in mechanical/HVAC estimating, takeoffs, and cost development for projects from design-build to retrofit.

You will review bid packages, perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, piping, and plumbing, solicit quotes, develop complete cost estimates, and support bid‑day activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, building products, construction details/design and quality standards.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and good time management.
• Commitment to long-term goals and ability to handle deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and professional presentation.

Responsibilities

• Review bid opportunities and packages to define scope and risks.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks to gather information for estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Develop complete cost estimates including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes for full scope coverage.
• Prepare proposals, bid forms, and scope letters with clarifications.
• Support change order pricing and smooth turnover of estimates.

We are currently looking for an Estimator to join our CSG team located at our headquarters in Chesterfield, MO. Our ideal candidate for an Estimator w ill be a self-starter, and we are open to a range of experience levels—from entry-level candidates ready to learn the trade to experienced estimators with 5+ years of mechanical/HVAC estimating experience.

Primary responsibilities for icon’s Estimator include:

• Reviewing bid opportunities and bid packages — drawings, specifications, and addenda — to define scope of work, identify risks, and support bid/no-bid decisions.
• Attending pre-bid meetings and job walks to evaluate existing conditions and gather the information needed to build a complete, accurate estimate.
• Performing detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems on design-build, plan-spec, and retrofit projects.
• Developing complete cost estimates, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Soliciting, evaluating, and leveling vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure full scope coverage and competitive pricing.
• Preparing and submitting proposals, bid forms, and scope letters with clarifications and qualifications, and supporting bid-day activities.
• Supporting change order pricing on active projects and providing a smooth estimate turnover to the project team on awarded work.

Primary qualifications for icon’s Estimator include:

• Knowledge of HVAC and Piping Systems, building products, construction details/design and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software and strong Microsoft Excel skills are a plus — we will train the right candidate.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Possesses a strong personal commitment for long-term and meaningful goals.
• Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multi-task with changing priorities.
• Demonstrate confidence in their knowledge and is committed to researching the answers and finding the right solution for things they do not know.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to present oneself in a professional manner.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
