Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking an experienced Estimator in Castle Rock, CO to produce accurate cost estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including DOT, bridges, and highways. You will lead bid preparation, takeoffs, and cost analyses to support timely proposals that meet client requirements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience, proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or Bid2Win, and excellent analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil and infrastructure.
  • Proven experience using HCSS and B2W estimating platforms.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil cost components and productivity rates.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complete cost estimates and takeoffs for heavy civil and infrastructure projects (DOT, bridge, highway, marine).
  • Use estimating software (HCSS, B2W and other platforms) to prepare bids, track quantities, and manage historic unit costs.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications and convert to labor, equipment, and material costs using current rates and productivity factors.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing, clarify scope, and validate assumptions.
  • Identify and quantify project risks and opportunities; perform value engineering and recommend cost-saving alternatives.
  • Prepare and present bid documents, estimate summaries, bid forms, and supporting backup for internal review and client submissions.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, bid logs, and estimating templates to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Monitor bid schedule and ensure timely submission of proposals while maintaining quality control and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Support post-bid activities including bid reviews, clarifications, change order pricing, and claims support as required.
  • Stay current on market conditions, material pricing trends, equipment rates, and union/crew productivity relevant to heavy civil construction.

Base Salary: $100K-$150K

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects including DOT, marine, bridge, and highway work. The Estimator will lead bid preparation, material and labor takeoffs, risk and value analysis, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver timely proposals that align with company objectives and project requirements.

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present estimates and explain assumptions to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under bid deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid drivers license; ability to visit job sites and suppliers as needed.
  • Preferred: experience with subcontractor procurement, value engineering, and familiarity with DOT bidding requirements and marine/bridge construction practices.
