Job summary

Arrow Tank & Engineering Company LLC is seeking an analytical Estimator in Cambridge, MN to develop accurate, timely estimates for custom fabrication projects. The role requires cross‑functional collaboration with sales, engineering, and production to ensure competitive proposals aligned with capabilities.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in heavy fabrication estimating, strong blueprint-reading and cost-evaluation skills, and familiarity with ASME/API codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three+ years estimating experience in heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as Compress or Excel-based estimating systems.
  • Strong understanding of welding, rolling, machining, finishing, and related fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with ASME, API and related industry codes including ASME Section VIII and API 650/620.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requests for quotation and drawings to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs using current pricing.
  • Collaborate with engineering to confirm scope, design feasibility, and codes.
  • Prepare budgetary and formal quotations with pricing, scope, and assumptions.
  • Coordinate with sales and production to align proposals with timelines and capacity.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors to clarify requirements and obtain pricing.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements to enhance proposals.
  • Incorporate safety, quality, and regulatory requirements into estimates.

Location of Position:

The Position:

We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Estimator to develop accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for custom fabrication projects. This position will analyze technical requirements, calculate project costs, and prepare proposals that are financially viable and aligned with Arrow Tank’s capabilities, so strong fabrication knowledge and cross-functional communication skills are a must.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Analyze requests for quotation, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs using current pricing, lead times, and operating assumptions.
  • Collaborate with engineering to confirm project scope, design feasibility, technical requirements, and compliance with applicable codes.
  • Prepare budgetary and formal quotations for the sales team, clearly documenting pricing, scope, exclusions, and estimating assumptions.
  • Coordinate with sales and production to align proposals with customer expectations, shop capacity, fabrication timelines, and labor availability.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors to clarify requirements, obtain pricing, evaluate lead times, and discuss practical alternatives.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities, process improvements, and vendor solutions that improve proposal quality and competitiveness.
  • Incorporate safety, quality, and regulatory requirements into estimates and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Three or more years of estimating experience in heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as Compress or Excel-based estimating systems.
  • Strong understanding of welding, rolling, machining, finishing, and related fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, and other relevant industry codes, including ASME Section VIII and API 650/620.
