My client, an established specialty construction contractor, is seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in commercial drywall, metal stud framing, and multifamily/apartment construction.
This is an opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in estimating multifamily residential projects, including large-scale apartment communities, podium, wrap, and mixed-use developments.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of estimating experience with a strong understanding of drywall and metal stud framing scopes and the ability to accurately estimate projects from plans and specifications through final proposal.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, and project drawings and specifications.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for commercial drywall and metal stud framing.
- Estimate interior drywall systems, light-gauge metal framing, shaft walls, fire-rated assemblies, acoustical ceilings, and related scopes.
- Prepare accurate estimates based on labor, material, equipment, and project requirements.
- Review project scopes to identify gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare estimates and proposals for multifamily and apartment projects.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs as needed.
- Coordinate with project management and field operations during project turnover.
- Assist with conceptual budgets, negotiated work, and change-order pricing.
- Maintain organized estimating information and track project results.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, or related construction.
- Strong background in commercial drywall and metal stud framing.
- Extensive experience estimating multifamily, apartment, podium, wrap, and mixed-use residential projects.
- Knowledge of fire-rated and sound-rated wall assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with estimating/takeoff software such as Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, QuickBid, and Excel is preferred.
