Job summary

Faith Technologies, Incorporated (FTI) is seeking an Estimating Project Management Intern to gain hands-on experience in estimating and preconstruction on live projects.

You will work closely with the Estimating Project Management and Preconstruction teams, performing takeoffs, organizing bid components, and assisting with cost and labor estimates while developing industry knowledge.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited institution pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or related program.
• No work experience required, but coursework or internships in construction/PM are advantageous.
• Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Accubid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review specification information and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Attend job site walk-throughs with Senior Estimator or Estimating Supervisor as needed.
• Organize bid components for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform takeoffs electronically from drawings and schematics.
• Consult with clients, vendors, foremen, superintendents, and project managers on cost estimates.
• Discuss changes with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subs.
• Finalise and follow up on completed bids.
• Process miscellaneous paperwork.

The Estimating Project Management Intern is responsible for working closely with Estimating Project Management and Preconstruction teams on assigned projects so as to enhance the Intern’s industry knowledge and career progression with the Company.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, and knowledge of Accubid and blueprint reading and general construction knowledge is preferred.

Minimum Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited institution and actively working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or relevant program.

No previous work experience is required. However, relevant coursework, academic projects, or prior internships related to construction or project management will be advantageous.

Travel: 5-15%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews specification information and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Attends job site walk-throughs with Senior Estimator and/or Estimating Supervisor as necessary.
• Organises bid components to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Performs takeoffs electronically on screen and from drawings (i.e., circuiting and scaling drawings, counting devices and equipment, etc).
• Consults with clients, vendors, foremen, superintendents, and project managers to discuss and formulate estimates.
• Confers with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Finalises and follows up on completed bids.
• Processes miscellaneous paperwork.
