Job summary

Marquis Industrial Services seeks an experienced Estimating Manager–Mechanical, Scaffold, Insulation, Coatings, Light Commercial to lead and strengthen our estimating organization supporting industrial mechanical, process piping, equipment installation, fabrication, and light commercial construction.

The ideal candidate will develop accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates; manage and grow estimating staff; improve processes; and implement technology to increase efficiency and accuracy,

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in construction estimating with senior roles such as Senior Estimator/Estimating Manager.
• Experience estimating industrial mechanical, petrochemical, chemical, manufacturing, energy, data center, and/or light commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of process piping, pipe fabrication, mechanical equipment installation, structural supports, and construction methods.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, P&IDs, piping isometrics, and contract documents.
• Familiarity with data analytics, automation, and AI tools; ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Willingness to visit industrial and commercial job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating process from initial project review through bidsubmission and project turnover.
• Prepare and oversee detailed estimates for industrial mechanical and light commercial projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, piping isometrics, bid documents, and contract requirements.
• Perform and oversee quantity takeoffs for process piping, fabrication, valves, fittings, structural supports, mechanical equipment, rigging, insulation, coatings, foundations, and related scopes.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, indirect cost, and productivity estimates.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, constructability concerns, cost assumptions, and project risks.
• Lead estimate reviews and present pricing strategies, risks, and recommendations to senior management.
• Coordinate with operations and project management to validate construction methods, labor productivity, equipment requirements, manpower plans, and schedules.
• Lead project handoffs to operations following award.
• Track bid results and compare estimated costs with actual performance to improve future estimates.
• Maintain historical cost databases, productivity benchmarks, and standardized estimating procedures.
• Support bid/no-bid decisions and strategic project pursuits.
• Lead, mentor, and develop estimating personnel while maintaining accountability for estimate quality and deadlines.

PrimaryResponsibilities

• EvaluateandimplementpracticalAIapplicationsfordrawingandspecificationreview,scopeidentification,quantitytakeoffs,proposaldevelopment,bidcomparisons,subcontractorbidleveling,andriskidentification.
• EstablishappropriatereviewprocedurestovalidateAI-generatedinformationandmaintainestimatingaccuracy.
• Recommendtechnologyinvestmentsbasedonmeasurableimprovementsinefficiency,accuracy,consistency,andreturnoninvestment.

Qualifications

• Preferred7–10yearsofconstructionestimatingexperience,includingexperienceasaSeniorEstimator,LeadEstimator,ChiefEstimator,orEstimatingManager.
• Experienceestimatingindustrialmechanical,petrochemical,chemical,manufacturing,energy,datacenter,and/orlightcommercialconstructionprojects.
• Strongknowledgeofprocesspiping,pipefabrication,mechanicalequipmentinstallation,structuralsupports,andconstructionmethods.
• Abilitytointerpretconstructiondrawings,specifications,P&IDs,pipingisometrics,andcontractdocuments.
