Job summary

Spencer Ogden is partnering with a global engineering business seeking an Estimating Manager to support major hyperscale and mission-critical data center projects from early pursuit through preconstruction and award.

The successful candidate will lead estimating activities, develop robust cost models, manage subcontractor bids, and mentor a team of estimators while collaborating with operations, procurement and design teams to optimize cost, schedule and constructability risks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years estimating or preconstruction experience in commercial construction, EPC or mission-critical projects.
• Experience with large, technically complex data center or high-tech projects.
• Strong knowledge of MEP, electrical and mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating activities for large-scale data center and mission-critical projects
• Develop conceptual, schematic and detailed estimates from early-stage design through GMP and final pricing
• Manage quantity take-offs, subcontractor pricing, bid leveling and scope reviews
• Partner with operations, procurement and design teams to identify cost, schedule and constructability risks
• Support RFPs, pursuits, bid strategy and client presentations
• Develop benchmarking, historical cost data and estimating standards
• Review subcontractor proposals and negotiate pricing, scope and commercial terms
• Provide senior leadership with accurate cost forecasts and commercial insight
• Mentor and develop estimators within the team

As the company continues to expand its data center portfolio, they are looking to appoint an Estimating Manager to support major hyperscale and mission-critical projects from early pursuit through preconstruction and award.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating activities for large-scale data center and mission-critical projects
• Develop conceptual, schematic and detailed estimates from early-stage design through GMP and final pricing
• Manage quantity take-offs, subcontractor pricing, bid leveling and scope reviews

Candidate Profile

• Strong knowledge of MEP, electrical and mission-critical systems
• Experience managing subcontractor bids, cost models and procurement strategy
• Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and clients
• Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
