Job summary

Riverhead Building Supply is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead and coordinate a team responsible for comprehensive estimates and bids based on client and project requirements. The role oversees the Estimating Department, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all estimates.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, blueprint-reading ability, strong communication skills, and proficiency with estimating and spreadsheet software, plus knowledge of

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, supervise, and support Estimating Department employees.
• Plan, assign, and oversee the team’s work.
• Ensure department employees follow company policies and procedures.
• Review and evaluate requests for estimates.
• Review estimates and revisions for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure estimates are completed on schedule.
• Review construction documents and blueprints to understand the scope of work.
• Complete takeoffs from construction documents.
• Create job folders and initiate CRM project tracking.
• Enter takeoff information to prepare estimates.
• Obtain material pricing and maintain product and vendor information.
• Coordinate with outside estimating services when needed.
• Address department concerns and resolve problems effectively.

The Estimating Manager prepares and coordinates comprehensive, accurate estimates and bids based on client and project requirements. This position also manages the Estimating Department and ensures estimates are completed accurately and on time.

Job Desciprtion

Responsibilities Include

• Hire, train, supervise, and support Estimating Department employees.
• Plan, assign, and oversee the team’s work.
• Ensure department employees follow company policies and procedures.
• Review and evaluate requests for estimates.
• Review estimates and revisions for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure estimates are completed on schedule.
• Review construction documents and blueprints to understand the scope of work.
• Complete takeoffs from construction documents.
• Create job folders and initiate CRM project tracking.
• Enter takeoff information to prepare estimates.
• Obtain material pricing and maintain product and vendor information.
• Coordinate with outside estimating services when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervise approximately five to seven Estimating Department employees.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Support hiring, training, work assignments, performance management, employee recognition, and corrective action.

Estimating Manager

• Bachelor’s degree, one to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and groups.
• Advanced knowledge of geometric mathematics and algebraic concepts.
• Ability to calculate square footage, coverage, conversions, rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with estimating and spreadsheet software.
• Working knowledge of enterprise systems, word processing, email, and internet applications.
• Occasional jobsite presence may be required.

For compliance purposes for NYS transparency, the expected salary range is $90,000 - $130,000. Compensation will be based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
