Job summary

Progressive Mechanical, Inc. invites motivated students or graduates to join our internship program in the estimating and preconstruction team.

You’ll work with mentors, gain hands-on experience in commercial construction estimating, and develop technical and analytical skills for a successful career. Interns will learn bid processes, takeoffs, project scope reviews, and how software like MS Office, Bluebeam, Navisworks and QuoteSoft support costs and proposals.

Qualifications

• Education as stated (high school diploma or GED, or higher degree).
• Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong desire for continued growth and learning in a team environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to successfully estimate a project and be involved in the bidding process.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and project scope reviews.
• Develop a deeper understanding of programs like Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Navisworks, and QuoteSoft.
• Read technical drawings, interpret job specifications, and review construction documents.
• Work with estimators to understand project costs, vendor pricing, and proposal development.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings to learn how estimating supports successful project execution.
• Be exposed to job site safety and have opportunities to visit active construction sites.
• Develop an understanding of how projects move from estimating through project award.
