Job summary

Pulice is offering an Estimating Intern position for Summer 2027 in Austin, TX. You will work with the estimating team to apply your academic training by preparing estimates for assigned construction disciplines and supporting the takeoff of scope, quantities, and costs.

The role involves reviewing specifications, historical data, and vendor discussions to help shape accurate estimates and support project hand-off meetings with pursuit and project management teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Construction Management, or similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
• Internship/Co-op experience preferred but not required.
• Eligibility to work in the United States is assumed.

Responsibilities

• Aid in reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to help determine scope and contents of the estimate.
• Assist in reviewing historical data from POs and productivity reports into unit and hour figures.
• Help prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and material quantities from drawings.
• Consult with clients/vendors to discuss and refine estimates.
• Assist with design review options and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Support hand-off meetings between pursuit and project management teams.

Overview

Come intern with us in Summer 2027 while working and training with the industry's finest professionals!

As an Estimating Intern, you will be given the opportunity to apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting. In addition, you will assist the estimating team by assisting in preparing the estimate for assigned construction discipline.

In performing any number or combination of the following tasks, you shall support published corporate policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and be responsible to follow up on all tasks assigned.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Aids in reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to help determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Assists in reviewing historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and person-hour figures
• Supports estimating team by helping to prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Assists in calculating material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Assists with design review options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
• Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals
• Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan
• Support published corporate policies
• Perform additional assignments per management’s direction

Who You Are

Estimating Interns/Co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in a(n) Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
