Job summary

Boccard Life Sciences is seeking an Estimating Engineer to join the Estimating Team. You will collate customer data, prepare bid inputs, and draft costed technical solutions for process packages in Food & Ingredients, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, and Brewing sectors.

You will work with Process Experts and the Purchasing department to align technical specs, quotes, and risk analyses. Strong communication and Excel/AutoCAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering (Food Sciences, Biotechnology, or Industrial Engineering) and 1 year of related experience preferred or 5 years proven experience.
• Strong knowledge in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process equipment specification and vendor interactions is a plus.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and project planning tools.
• Basic 2D drawing with AutoCAD (P&ID, Layout).

Responsibilities

• Participate in reviews of entry data from customers and field notes.
• Join bid meetings and walkthroughs to support proposals.
• Identify past similar projects for references and risk assessment.
• Assist in developing technical solutions (P&IDs) compliant with data requests.
• Draft technical specifications and inquiries to suppliers with purchasing.
• Draft costing spreadsheets from data collected (quotes, benchmarks, staffing).
• Create technical descriptions for proposals using templates.
• Participate in offer reviews before submittal.
• Engage in technical alignments with customers.

Job description

Boccard Life Sciences, industrial integrator, located in 35 countries, designs, manufactures, assembles, and installs process solutions for its customers worldwide in the Food & Ingredients, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, and Brewing Industries.

As part of the Estimating Team, the Estimating Engineer will collaborate with the Estimating Manager in the preparation of proposals in compliance with the customer requests and the internal Boccard Management System to develop the business unit.

Position Functions

• Participate in the reviews of entry data received from customers and/or collected in the field. Participate in bid meetings and walkthroughs.
• Help to identify similar projects quoted/executed in the past, for applicable references, as well as the risks of being able to manage them during the proposal development process.
• Support the Estimating Manager and Process Experts to develop technical solutions (P&IDs) compliant with the requirements and entry data from the requests for quote.
• Prepare technical specifications for the proposed design, and inquiry suppliers to find the right equipment technically and financially (hand in hand with the purchasing department).
• Draft the costing spreadsheets from the data collected (prices lists, vendor quotes, benchmark ratios, staffing plans, risk analysis, etc.).
• Draft the technical description for the proposal following established templates.
• Participate in the offer review prior to submittal.
• Participate in technical alignments with the customer.

Requirements & Experience

Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering (Food Sciences, Biotechnology, or Industrial Engineering) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related field preferred or a minimum of five (5) years of proven experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Good knowledge in fluid mechanics, fluid thermodynamics and associated processes (pumping, heating, filtering)
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and MS Project
• Intermediate knowledge in AutoCAD for 2D drawing (P&ID – Basic Layout)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Flexible and dependable
• Excellent people skills and high attention to detail
