Ruppert Landscape seeks an Estimator – Landscape Installation in Manassas, VA. You will lead bid development, perform quantity take-offs, and coordinate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers. The role supports pre-construction budgeting and value engineering to ensure competitive, profitable proposals.

You will work with internal teams to refine bid strategy, review project costs, and participate in pre- and post-job reviews to drive successful outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong communication, coordination, and client-facing skills.
• Experience with bidding, take-offs, and cost estimation processes.
• Familiarity with subcontractor pricing and supplier quotes.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and project cost reporting.
• Experience with estimating software preferred but not required.
• Must be capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines.
• Entry level candidates considered with relevant enthusiasm.

ESTIMATOR – LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION

Where You Fit In

As an Estimator, you will lead the estimating process from inception through proposal submission, ensuring accurate, complete, and competitive bids are delivered on time. Responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, defining project scopes of work, soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and supplier pricing, preparing detailed cost estimates, and coordinating all bid-related activities. This role also supports pre-construction efforts by assisting customers with budgeting and value engineering, collaborating with internal teams to review bid strategy and profit margins, and participating in pre- and post-job meetings to evaluate project performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Review plans and specifications to define project scopes of work, identify effective production methods, and prepare subcontractor bid packages for distribution
• Manage estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines
• Complete quantity take-offs and enter bid information into the company's estimating software
• Establish recommended profit margins in alignment with current pricing guidelines and project requirements
• Evaluate and recommend preferred subcontractors for each project in collaboration with Project Managers
• Solicit written quotes for hard materials and site furnishings
• Submit plant lists to the Purchaser to be sourced and priced
• Assist customers with technical information and pricing during pre-construction
• Review bids with Branch and Region Managers based on approval limits
• Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• Ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors and customers
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all situations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
• Proficiency in computer applications, with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); experience with estimating software preferred
• Understanding of business math, budgeting, and reporting principles related to estimating and project costs
• Minimum one year experience preferred, but not necessary for entry-level candidates
