The firm is expanding its advanced planning capabilities and is seeking an Estate Planning Attorney / Estate Specialist / Advanced Planner to bring deep technical expertise and a strong client presence to a growing, technology-enabled platform.

Reporting to the Head of Estate, Tax, and Financial Planning, this person will work directly with advisors and clients to identify planning opportunities, evaluate existing estate and succession structures, and translate complex strategies into practical recommendations. The role offers significant visibility across the organization, with regular collaboration among internal advisors, outside attorneys, tax professionals, and other client specialists. As an early member of the team, you’ll also have an opportunity to help shape how advanced planning is delivered as the platform continues to grow.

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Play a key role in building and evolving an advanced planning function within a growing wealth management organization.
  • Work directly with high-net-worth clients on sophisticated estate, tax, retirement, and business succession matters.
  • Combine technical estate planning expertise with meaningful client and advisor interaction.
  • Partner with experienced professionals across wealth management, tax, investment, and financial planning disciplines.
  • Use planning technology to bring greater clarity and structure to complex client situations.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Serve as a senior technical resource on estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Meet with advisors and clients to understand objectives, assess existing plans, and identify planning opportunities.
  • Review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, account ownership, and related estate structures.
  • Leverage legal expertise to draft, review, and summarize estate planning documents, while serving as a trusted resource to the team on estate documentation, planning strategies, and related matters.
  • Build, analyze, and maintain comprehensive financial and estate plans using planning technology; experience with eMoney or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Evaluate estate and business succession arrangements, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and develop recommendations for consideration.
  • Review and interpret estate and gift tax information, including relevant tax returns, to support planning and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Coordinate with clients’ outside attorneys, CPAs, and other professional advisors to move planning strategies toward implementation.
  • Lead planning discussions with business owners around company sales, ownership transfers, liquidity events, and other exit strategies.
  • Develop clear, client-ready materials that make complex planning concepts accessible and actionable.
  • Contribute to webinars, seminars, advisor training, educational content, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Mentor team members and help establish effective processes as the advanced planning function expands.
  • Take on additional planning initiatives as the team and platform evolve.

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years of experience in estate planning, wealth management, family office services, or a closely related field.
  • JD, Tax LLM, Accredited Estate Planner (AEP), CFP®, or comparable advanced planning credential required.
  • Legal expertise in drafting and summarizing estate planning documents, with the ability to serve as a trusted resource for the team on all aspects of estate documents and estate planning strategies.
  • Strong working knowledge of estate and gift tax planning, wealth transfer, and intergenerational planning strategies.
  • Experience reviewing estate planning documents and assessing trusts, wills, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and related structures.
  • Experience working with gift and estate tax returns and applying tax considerations to wealth planning strategies.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated tax and estate concepts clearly to clients, advisors, and other professionals.
  • Strong client presence and comfort leading substantive planning conversations.
  • Excellent collaboration, organization, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Business exit planning certification or related designation is a plus.
