Job description

Senior Estate Planning Strategist

West Hollywood, California Direct Hire $175000 /

Job Description

Century City, CA | Flexible Hybrid | $175,000–$225,000 Base | $250,000–$300,000 Target Total Compensation

A growing wealth‑management organization is seeking a Senior Estate Planning Strategist to serve as a trusted estate‑planning authority for its advisors and high‑net‑worth clients. This highly visible position offers the opportunity to remain close to sophisticated planning work while helping shape how an expanding firm delivers estate‑planning guidance across the organization.

The strategist will join a small, influential advanced‑planning group and function as the second‑in‑command within the estate‑planning offering. This senior individual‑contributor role combines technical document analysis, direct client engagement, advisor partnership, prospect support and platform development.

What You Will Own

Review and interpret complete estate plans, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, amendments, powers of attorney, beneficiary provisions and related documents.

Prepare clear summaries, identify gaps or inefficiencies and translate technical findings into practical planning opportunities for clients and advisors.

Lead discussions involving sophisticated wealth‑transfer, gift and estate tax, charitable, business‑succession and intergenerational‑planning strategies.

Partner with outside attorneys, tax professionals and affiliated legal resources to coordinate strategy implementation.

Meet directly with HNW and UHNW clients and participate in selected prospect conversations where advanced‑planning expertise can strengthen the relationship.

Help develop the firm’s estate‑planning processes, standards, advisor education, client materials and future service strategy.

Use technology such as Luminary and financial‑planning software to support document analysis, modeling and client‑ready deliverables.

What We Are Looking For

10+ years of directly relevant estate‑planning experience. Exceptional candidates with eight or nine years may be considered.

Substantial hands‑on experience reviewing and interpreting complete estate‑planning documents—not simply including estate planning within a broader financial plan.

At least one of the following: JD, Tax LLM, Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).

Meaningful experience advising HNW or UHNW families and explaining complicated planning concepts in clear, approachable language.

Strong knowledge of sophisticated trust structures, wealth‑transfer strategies, gift and estate taxation, business succession and intergenerational planning.

Experience reviewing gift and/or estate tax returns and coordinating with attorneys, accountants and financial professionals.

Warm, confident executive presence and the judgment to build credibility with clients, prospects, advisors and outside counsel.

Strong project‑management and prioritization skills within a collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience

eMoney experience; MoneyGuidePro, RightCapital or comparable financial‑planning software is also valuable.

Luminary or another estate‑document analysis platform.

CEPA or a comparable business‑exit‑planning designation.

Advisor education, thought leadership, business‑development support or client‑seminar experience.

Location and Travel

This is a flexible‑hybrid position centered around the Century City office. There is no mandatory number of weekly office days, but the person must be available for important client meetings, team meetings and other business needs.

Los Angeles‑area candidates are strongly preferred. Exceptional candidates elsewhere in Southern California, Northern California or the Pacific Time Zone may be considered if they can support Pacific Time business hours and atten
