Job summary

The Crosby Company located in Dover, MA is seeking a hands-on Groundskeeper with a strong horticulture and tree-care background. You will manage the care of trees, shrubs, gardens, trails, and open spaces on a private estate.

The ideal candidate understands Northeast growing conditions and can work independently or with a team. Weekend on-call duties and a comprehensive benefits package are part of the role, with a focus on safety and high-quality grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of horticulture, forestry, and grounds maintenance practices.
• Extensive knowledge of native trees and shrubs and woodland management.
• Working knowledge of estate grounds maintenance methods and equipment.
• Experience with gardening, perennials, annuals, composting, and irrigation system repairs is preferred.
• Experience on large private estates, equestrian properties, golf courses, parks, or similar environments is desirable.
• Ability to operate power equipment including chainsaws, tractors, mowers, trimmers, and pruning tools.
• Physical fitness to lift up to 80 pounds and perform outdoor work in varying weather.
• Willingness to assist with additional property tasks and work independently or in a team.
• Strong communication skills and attention to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual pruning and plant health care for trees and shrubs.
• Maintain lawns, fields, and pasture areas to high standards.
• Conduct forestry and tree work including selective pruning and woodland management.
• Monitor watering requirements for new plantings and trees.
• Maintain walking paths, trails, and outdoor recreation areas.
• Inspect grounds for maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Remove debris to keep grounds clean and visually appealing.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
• Complete work orders and respond to after-hours issues.
