Job summary

American Heart Association is seeking an Advisor, Charitable Estate Planning in the Mission Advancement department. Location preferably in Southern California; can be home-based but near a major airport.

Responsible for engaging in regional charitable estate planning activities (AK, CA, HI, ID, OR, MT, NV, UT) to support the national program. The role requires expertise in estate and tax planning, donor stewardship, and creating cultivation plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in planned giving or individual fundraising, estate planning, and related tax knowledge.
• Proven ability to close gift solicitations and manage donor relationships.
• Familiarity with deferred gift vehicles and estate planning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for charitable estate gifts.
• Partner with Mission Advancement staff to provide philanthropic opportunities to supporters.
• Initiate communication with leads requesting information on charitable estate planning.
• Develop a dynamic cultivation plan for promising leads.
• Provide consultations on estate and tax planning and charitable giving.
• Foster stewardship among legacy society members and customize communications.
• Maintain donor information in Salesforce and track activity.
• Present on gift planning techniques at meetings and events.
• Coordinate program activities with local staff and volunteers.
