Sonoran Science Academy – Phoenix, a STEM public charter school, seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with IEPs in and outside the classroom. Responsibilities include instructional support, tutoring, behavior observation, and assisting staff with crisis management and behavior plans.

Requirements include a current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain, and a high school diploma with one of several options (associate degree or 60 credits, or

• Option A: Associate degree or 60+ college credits.
• Option B: Passing ADE-approved assessment (ETS Paraprofessional, ACT Workkeys, or Master Teacher ParaEducator Network).

We are currently recruiting for the following position for the 2026-2027 school year:

Special Education – Paraprofessional

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following (duties are not limited to these) for students with special needs inside and outside their general education classrooms as dictated by the students' Individualized Education Plans:

• Assist individual students in performing activities initiated by the teachers (help students get started and organizational needs).
• Instructional support for small groups or with individuals while the teacher works with other students.
• Provide interventions/tutoring as directed by supervising teacher
• Assist the ESS teacher and administrators in observing, recording, and charting behavior.
• Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management.
• Carry out instructional programs designed by the teacher.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)

1. Secondary school diploma or GED AND

2. ONE of the options below: (At Principals Discretion)

• Holds an associate's (or higher) degree OR
• Completed two years of study (equaling 60 or more credit hours) at an accredited institution of higher education ( 100 level coursework and above);

Or

Obtained a passing score on an ADE-approved assessment:

• ETS Paraprofessional Assessment;
• ACT Workkeys (requires Writing, Applied Mathematics & Reading for Information)
• Master Teacher's ParaEducator Learning Network.
