Job summary

Northeast Iowa Community College is seeking an Esports Coach to lead and grow the college's esports program. The role includes coaching teams across multiple games, recruiting players, and managing practices and competition schedules.

Availability for weekday afternoons and evenings will be required. The ideal candidate will have college-level playing or coaching experience, know esports titles, and be able to coordinate with admissions to recruit student-athletes while supporting their academic

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Collegiate playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • 1 year experience with applicable rules; NJCAAE preferred.
  • Knowledge of esports games such as LoL, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Smash, Valorant, FIFA 2022, Hearthstone, NBA 2K22, Madden, CoD or similar.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations including faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the Esports team including practicing, competing and scheduling.
  • Evaluates and recruits qualified students and maintains roster sizes for the program.
  • Collaborates with Admissions for recruiting through registration.
  • Monitors student-athletes’ academic progress at the college.
  • Sets up, tears down, updates and stores equipment.
  • Develops and adheres to the program budget.
  • Works with Esports coach at the other NICC campus for marketing and recruiting.
  • Submits press releases after each competition and keeps the NICC Esports webpage current.
