Job summary

New York Edge is seeking an Esports Specialist to provide targeted, age-appropriate instruction and mentoring within its after-school programs in New York City. You will lead the Esports Model aligned with the Sports & Wellness Department, guiding students in teamwork, responsible gaming, and digital citizenship throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable in esports with experience teaching youth in a structured setting.
• Prior experience teaching and instructing youth preferred.
• Ability to follow a curriculum and adapt for different skill levels.
• Demonstrated responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Motivate students to engage actively in daily esports activities and skill development.
• Ensure daily activity lesson plans are structured and age-appropriate with learning goals.
• Communicate with the Program Director and Sports & Wellness regarding schedules, leagues, and events.
• Encourage participation in organization-wide esports activities and competitions.
• Establish rules for behavior to maintain order and focus among students.
• Organize and promote various esports genres and activities.
• Explain gaming strategies and safety procedures, demonstrating responsible gaming.
• Enforce digital safety rules and proper equipment use.
• Set clear objectives for lessons and projects and communicate them to students.
• Prepare facilities and equipment for group esports activities.
• Greet new participants and introduce team dynamics, etiquette, and rules.
• Evaluate activities to ensure educational outcomes are met.
• Adapt activities for varying skill levels and interests.
• Support the development of each student's gaming and teamwork skills.
• Emphasize positive character development: respect, teamwork, perseverance.
• Provide homework support during Academic hour as needed.
