Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Functions –

  1. Co-lead/manage a competitive Esports program.
  2. Recruit and retain a roster of at least 25 student athletes.
  3. Focus on player development, strategic planning, and team performance.
  4. Partner well with other coaching staff to help students work towards their academic and Esports goals.
  5. Provide guidance to students on all levels of competition across different video games.
  6. Create opportunities for students to grow and compete in a competitive setting.
  7. Collaborate with competition staff and committees for various tournament organizations.
  8. Manage team logistics, including scheduling and travel arrangements.
  9. Stay updated on changes to tournament, league, or HutchCC policies and rules.
  10. Give tours of the Esports arena to prospective students.
  11. Maintain Esports equipment and oversee its rotation.
  12. Assist students in streaming competition games on Twitch and manage the Twitch account.
  13. Ensure the integrity of the program by adhering to all institutional and competition rules and practices.
  14. Arrive on time, attend regularly, and fulfill all responsibilities of the position.
  15. Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.

Secondary Functions –

  1. Post updates on social media about HutchCC Esports members’ games and competitions.
  2. Mentor team captains in preparing their teams for competition.

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Practical knowledge of video games.
  • Knowledge of OBS Studio or other streaming services.
  • Ability to use Photoshop or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of computer operations to maintain arena computers.
  • Willingness to work late evenings.
  • Visual acuity to view a computer screen; good judgment, tact, and courtesy in difficult situations; effective communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand basic instructions related to the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be met with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Qualifications are guidelines; alternative qualifications may be considered if sufficient to perform duties.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS

The hourly rate is based on qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This is a part-time, at-will, nonexempt support staff position. It is not eligible for benefits due to its part-time status.
