ABOUT ESPERANZA ACADEMY

Esperanza means hope. Esperanza Academy Charter School (EACS) is located in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia and prides itself on serving the students in the community in which it is located. During the 2023-2024 school year, Esperanza Academy will serve grades: K, 1, 2, 5, and 6-12. Esperanza Academy believes that education can be a vehicle for social and economic progress for marginalized communities. As a result, we are relentless in our pursuit to provide our students with the best educational option in the Philadelphia area.
Our proven track record of academic success with students who have historically been underserved sets us apart. The Academy has 11th-grade test scores above the city of Philadelphia average and value-added math and reading proficiency growth among the highest in Pennsylvania. Students graduate at a rate exceeding 90% and drop out at a rate of only 1%. For seven out of nine years, the Academy has been awarded a silver or bronze medal rating in the US News ranking of Best High Schools in the country.
By the fall of 2024, we will have fully expanded to a K-12 school serving over 2,400 students. This expansion will result in Esperanza Academy being the second-largest single charter school in the city of Philadelphia.


THE OPPORTUNITY

Esperanza Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for potential Spanish Teachers in our middle school and high school buildings for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Esperanza Academy is committed to exposing and connecting students to Latino culture through teaching the Spanish language. Our Spanish teachers will facilitate and guide students as they learn through the building of vocabulary, reading, writing, and conversation. Students will have the opportunity to practice Spanish that they can employ in real-world scenarios.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Official transcripts showing the degree conferred are required prior to the starting date of employment.)
  • Certification: Applicants interested in this opportunity should have the following PA teacher certification prior to their start date.
