Job summary

Second Mile Education is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and English Language Learners. The role emphasizes direct instructional support for students with limited English proficiency while adhering to all ESOL program policies and procedures.

You will collaborate with classroom staff, assist with ESOL testing and documentation, and help families stay engaged in their child’s learning. Experience with diverse cultures and data entry is valued.

Qualifications

• Associates degree is required.
• Experience working with over-age and adult learners preferred.
• Written and oral proficiency in a language other than English.

Responsibilities

• Enrolls students in the regular program or ESOL program based on Home Language Survey responses.
• Assures Language Proficiency Tests are administered and documented as procedures specify.
• Notifies teachers of ESOL status and shares test results and background information to assist instruction.
• Informs parents about ESOL processes and invites participation per procedures.
• Develops the English Language Learner Plan for each eligible student.
• Maintains student records, data entry, and confidentiality per district/state guidelines.
