Description
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain pupil behavior standards.
- Implement a student evaluation system within state law or district guidelines.
- Evaluate and record students’ progress, reporting to parents as needed.
- Teach the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
- Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare substitute lesson plans.
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school.
- Participate in community outreach activities like open houses and PTA meetings.
- Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
- Assist the principal in developing evaluation and assessment systems.
- Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports and documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment typically has moderate noise levels. Travel across the district is required. Remote work options are not available for campus-based roles, as attendance at the worksite is essential.
Qualifications
The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for this role:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to follow routine procedures with minimal supervision.
- Ability to present subject matter according to established guidelines.
- Effective classroom management skills.
