Description
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
- Develop and implement student evaluation systems within state law or district guidelines.
- Continuously evaluate and record students’ progress, reporting to parents as needed.
- Teach according to the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
- Plan lessons aligned with subject area objectives and prepare substitute lesson plans.
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Be available for counseling students and parents outside school hours.
- Participate in community outreach activities like open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
- Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers where applicable.
- Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems in line with district guidelines.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation.
- Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level is usually moderate. District travel is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based staff due to the necessity of onsite presence and duties.
Qualifications
The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this role:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience.
- Ability to present subject matter per TEA, Board policies, and regulations.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments.
- Willingness to stay current with professional developments.
